Beyond The Curriculum

The Academic year is from April to March.

Pre KG – 3+ years.

Kindergarten (Pre-Primary Section) – LKG & UKG

Primary Section – Std I – V Middle Section – Std VI – VIII

The school follows the curriculum and syllabus of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi.

Textbooks prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training; New Delhi (NCERT) are followed from Grade VI onwards. All students must study 3 languages (English, Tamil, Hindi) up to class VIII. From Class IX onwards Students can opt either Hindi or Tamil as second language. Assessment in work experience/ Art Education and Physical and Health Education will be done by the school and grades will be awarded for the same.

Examination / Promotion

Periodic tests are found necessary to assess the ingenuity and studious nature of students. It also promotes healthy competition among students and help them to be aware of their own short comings and failures in their study habits, holding on to these principles, we conduct two Periodic Assessment and two Terminal Examinations. One must not absent oneself from any of these examinations expect when prevented by reason of health, in which case a Medical Certificate may be submitted in advance.
No re-examination will be conducted in any subject. Absence from or failure in a subject excludes a student from being reckoned for the order of merit.
The results of the Terminal Examinations will be given to the parents in the Report card, while the Result of the academic year on promotion or detention will be informed to the parents in the open meeting as well as it will be published in the school website.

Play Way Method

Academic subjects are taught by playway method, that is every step of teaching is done based on activities and it’s been evaluated.

Working on Sounds – Phonetics

Phonetics is mainly taught in the class for the support of good command over English. Phonetic audio visuals are played on the projector board to aid the children in getting training supported by the teachers. Every class a new word with the sound has been taught to pronounce.

Open House Day

The school conducts open day for the parents / guardians to meet the principal, administrative staff, class teachers and subject teachers periodically in an academic year. The day and date for 'open house day' will be informed through the HANDBOOK. It is obligatory on the part of the parents to call on the school and to meet the members of the staff concerned to know about their wards academic performance.

Audio Visual Rooms: Audio/Visual Room meets the needs of audio and video requirements like Presentations on the Projectors, training Workshops.

Extra Curricular Activities

Every wednesday we have extracurricular activities like karate, yoga, archery, shooting, music, bharatanatyam, and skating. This helps our children to build their skills beyond the classroom, open their mind to new interests and provide social opportunities.
Events: The school provides ample opportunities for students to take part in different co-curricular activities and thereby develop qualities of self-expression, self-confidence, self-discipline, purposefulness, endurance, decision making etc. which all are needed for a full and fruitful life.

Clubs

At Sree Abiraami School as per the CBSE guidelines emphasis is laid upon active participation in various social, athletic and artistic clubs and societies.

We have Spelling club, Brain ‘O’ Brain Club, Eco club, Cultural club and Cuisine club. Through the club activities students can develop their social skills and to develop an opportunity to connect with other students and with the faculty. This aspect includes wide range of co-curricular activities. A student will be expected to choose any two skills from below mentioned four groups and he/she will be assessed on their level of participation and achievement.

Spelling Club

The students actively participate in literary and creative skills at school. This skill includes those activities where students get a chance to learn and exhibit their potential when it comes to Debate, Declamation, Creative Writing, Recitation, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Theatre, etc. After acquiring the skill the student is ready to participate in various inter and intra-school competition.

ECO Club

Sree Abiraami believes in creating an ever-green environment for the learners. To make the learners realize the importance of a healthy environment, we engage the learners to perform various activities in the ‘Eco-club’ The learners are motivated to create posters and PPTs on topics such as ‘Healthy Environment’, ‘Make the Best out of Waste’ and campaign around the school campus on the necessity of keeping the environment clean. Field trips to Eco-Parks are also arranged which enable the learners to enjoy nature’s beauty and initiate in them the passion for growing plants in and around their locality which would make our environment clean and green.

Cultural Club

Drama and performing arts, not only engage with the creative side of the brain, but also provides an ideal balance in students’ patterns of study. It is an avenue to develop cognitive abilities that complement the study of other disciplines. We at SAS have introduced the Theatre Programme as a part of our curriculum for students of classes VI to VIII. The objective of this programme is to open new dimensions of emotional experiences, increase self-confidence and ability to think, creatively, imaginatively and divergently so that our young actors, orators and writers are able to think outside the box thereby developing higher order thinking skills.

Cuisine Club

Cookery Club is a great way to educate them about good nutrition, what’s in season, planning and preparing meals, and reading food labels. It can encourage them to eat healthy foods, especially the ones they normally refuse to try. It teaches the values of self-management and social awareness and develops interpersonal skills.

The Math club helps students of class I to VIII to work out problems very fast. It improves the academic performance, sharpens their minds, increases the mental ability and intelligence. It also increases visualization and concentration in children. It eradicates the fear of Math completely, and boosts self-confidence. It also helps in developing the left and right sides of the brain.

Health & Wellness Club

Health&Wellness

Holistic development of a child is our aim which encompasses right and proportional growth of physical, intellectual, emotional, social aspects of a child’s personality. All these aspects are interconnected and inter dependent on each other.Special domains in today’s education system calls for a separate guide and support(school counsellor) for the psychological wellbeing of the child. Mental health is as important as Physical health. Both are interconnected and inter dependent on each other.

Educational Tours

“Travelling” is a delightful distraction, which keeps the students in tune with the mysteries of nature and the lifestyles of different people. It broadens their horizon and enriches their education.

National level sight-seeing tours, one day picnics and educational trips are arranged on a regular basis to places of interest and historical importance. All the students must participate in any one of the Educational Tours which are by the school.

Celebrations

Different kinds of festival are celebrated with a concept to teach the children on unity in diversity. While celebrating, the classrooms are decorated according to the festival and the children dress and enact on the concept to bring in main idea of celebration.

Physical Health

Life is full of matters, no time for us to exercise it, thats why now a days it has become a need for us to do some exercise for which is good for mind and body. Every morning 15 minutes of warming up is done with counts.

Art and Craft

This class is for the children’s colourful creativity. Free hand colouring, Finger printing, Vegetable printing, Little artist (Drawing and Colouring), Paper Collage, Mask making, Party cap making, Sponge Doll making etc.

Horizontal long drawing books are given to the children for free drawing and handover to the teacher. The teacher evaluates and names the child ‘Little Artist’. Then printed art sheets are given to the children and with the help of the teacher the child colours by using wax crayons and colour pencils.

Nature Work

Every week there is a class on nature work. With the help of teachers and school housekeepers, the children are brought out of the class to show the school campus, school park, computer lab, principal room, office room and nearby places by school van. This is to bring an awareness of environment and the necessity of the greenery. The main idea of this class activity is to make the children understand who are the people working for us and what are their status and position in their work.
